This workshop is entirely suitable for beginners and doesn’t require any previous technical skills.
You will be provided a funny experience, in a traditional studio and a relaxed atmosphere.
The focus is to reproduce the patterns of tiles that you can see all over the country, while also giving free rein to your imagination.
All the materials needed for this activity are provided by us, with two drinks per participant included.

We’ll start with a historical approach to tiles in Portugal, from the 15th century to today.
The practical part focuses mainly on facade tiles, typical of the late 19th century and the beginning of industrialization.
You can choose a typical pattern (or take your own design in a 7.5cm square) to open your print with a totally manual technique, drawn by hand, and opened with a scalpel.

There will be a short break and the paintings will follow!
Each participant paints up to 10 tiles measuring 7.5x7.5cm.

When you finish painting, we’ll insert the tiles in the gazette (a small shelf that goes into the oven).
The cooking of the tiles takes about 3 days.
At the end of this period, you can pick up your tiles at the studio or they can be shipped for an additional fee.
